Steve brought his 2020 Sierra 1500 Denali to our Hendersonville shop already lifted a little and running 33s. He wanted to step up to a 6 inch lift with 35s, and he wanted to keep the 22 inch wheels he already had. The catch was his garage. It has tight clearance, so how tall the truck ended up was the first thing we talked through.
We worked the roof height up from the dealer number, adding the lift and the extra tire height. On paper that math pointed to a 4 inch lift as the safe answer. Steve came back with measurements taken from his own truck as it sits now, and those showed there was enough room to go bigger. We went with the 6 inch.
Because it's a Denali with adaptive ride control, we used the version of the lift kit made for trucks with it. Before ordering we also asked Steve for a picture of the rear springs, since we needed to know whether the truck had a multi-leaf setup. It did, so we were good to go.
The rest was about the look. We showed Steve a pocket style fender flare, he liked it, and we had the flares finished in gloss black. He also wanted the factory wheels powder coated gloss black. The shop that did them uses a newer gloss black that resists micro scratches, so we went with that. On the diesel we added a cold air intake and a resonator delete, plus gloss black exhaust tips to match everything else. The truck got an alignment when the work was done.
This was Steve's third build and his first with us, so we were glad he trusted us with it. If you've got a truck you want to lift, bring it by either shop, Hendersonville or Clarksville.
